Everything you need to know about GSCExplorer.app
This is my learning project. I don't have the skills to release a product where I can charge yet, but I want to learn. I just expect this to be useful in your workflow, and you put in more feature requests so I can learn more. Since the GSC API is free, running this project costs me only a small monthly hosting bill, which I cover myself.
Yes, your Search Console performance data is stored — on purpose. Google only serves the last 16 months and deletes the rest. Keeping our own copy is what lets this app show you last year, spot a decline the week it starts, and compare periods Google has already forgotten. A tool that threw the data away after each page could not do any of that.
So, once you connect a property, these are kept:
It is never sold, never shared, and never used to train anything. It is your site's data, kept so that you can still read it after Google stops serving it.
You do not have to take this on trust. Once signed in, the stored-data page shows exactly what is held for every property — which groupings, which dates, how many rows and roughly how much room they take. The danger zone on the settings page deletes it: one property, or your whole account, and it goes for good.
For learning purposes, I've installed Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the product is being used and to learn about user behavior. This information helps improve your experience.
I've also implemented Microsoft Clarity to gain insights through heatmaps and session recordings, which helps identify areas for improvement and enhance features.
